An avid proponent of education and a life-long learner, Dr. Raymond J. Johnson, earned a bachelor’s degree in business and economics from the University of Maine. He has earned master’s degrees in business administration, Law and Public Policy and Divinity from Regent University. He has earned a Doctor of Ministry degree with a concentration in Leadership and Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary. And is in pursuit of his second doctorate, a Ph.D. in Public Theology from Regent University.
As a church planter with a vision for multi-site ministry. Dr. Johnson planted Dominion as a transitional church plant ministry. The ministry has grown from thirteen original members to hundreds of weekly attendees. As he approaches his 18th year of pastoral ministry, Dominion Outreach Worship Center houses Dominion Community Development Corporation. Dominion CDC oversees Nehemiah’s Nook the ministries feeding, clothing, and toiletry distribution with programing to take the next steps in affordable housing, workforce development, and life skills training and addiction recovery services.
Called to preach the gospel at the early age of twelve, after receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at the age of nine, Dr. Johnson previously served the body of Christ as a youth pastor, elder and church administrator. In succeeding his father, He is a second-generation pastor.
His experience, excellence and message of empowerment has led to many connections with affiliate and partnership ministries. As a consecrated Bishop in the Lord’s Church, Dr. Johnson serves the body of Christ locally as the Senior Pastor of Dominion Outreach Worship Center. As a leader to leaders, he serves with an episcopal appointment in The Cathedral of the Covenant Fellowship Ministries with Father, Bishop H. Eugene Bellinger. He serves regionally as a Board member with the Hampton Roads Ecumenical Council of Bishops. Nationally he is a member with the College of African American Pentecostal Bishops. After his prelature review, he presides as the Bishop Elect of Dominion Covenant Fellowship an apostolic gathering of bishops, apostles, pastors, ministers, and marketplace leaders.
Dr. Johnson’s commitment to leadership and serving others extends beyond the walls of the church and flows into the community and public square. He has served on Virginia’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Commission and the Family Foundation’s Pastors for Family Values. He also served as a gubernatorial appointee on the State Board of Social Services. He is a Hampton Roads Urban League 2010 Decade MLK Award Recipient and has served as co-facilitator at the prestigious Hampton Ministers’ Conference Church Leadership Development Academy.
Married to his partner and help meet the psalmist Lady Alitash Kebebe Johnson together they are the proud parents of seven children. And live by the “Dominion Mandate,” walking in dominion and occupying until HE comes.
